The top 10 cities in China for beautiful women

dongjie.jpg Stuck in our apartment in the midst of the seemingly never ending rainy season in Shanghai, we often find ourselves overcome with the desire to pack our bags and go just about anywhere else. Now that the Qingdao Beer Festival is over, we've been looking for other places to satisfy our wanderlust.
We'd love to visit some tourist sites, maybe a beach or two, but what we're really looking for is a scenic, historic city filled with culture, nightlife, and of course, beautiful women. Lucky for us, ChinaHush has a translated list from Netease of the top 10 cities in China for beautiful women.
The reputation for beautiful women is a frequent topic of conversation in China, especially when we find ourselves trapped with the occasional perverted taxi driver. It's a great subject for debate, but one rarely gets a circumspect opinion. Though this list may not be definitive, at least it provides us with a starting point to plan our "sightseeing"
Dalian takes the crown for beautiful women. Though perhaps not as graceful as Southern women, "Dalian girls are undoubtedly the cream of the crop among girls in the northeast of China" with their bold and elegant qualities.
Unsurprisingly, Chongqing and Chengdu take the two and three spots, proving that the palate for la meizi (辣美子) remains strong. In case you're not familiar with the immense, fragrant beauty of Sichuan women, take a look at some of the irresistable qualities you're missing.
From ChinaHush:

"Chengdu girls have delicate and white skin and they do not seem to like the heavy make-up. Whether she is a working class, or a school girl, they are mostly light on the make-ups, but the natural beauty is truly amazing. Chengdu girls are like the city, vaguely reveals a faint, lazy, leisure scent. Their beauty is like a soft kitten."
Normally, when we think of beautiful women, soft kittens aren't our first association. In fact, kittens are one of the last things we think about. But to each their own, we suppose?
Shanghai comes in at seven, behind Changsha, Nanjing, and the combined attractive-girl powerhouses of Suzhou and Hangzhou, which apparently count as one city when it comes to the ladies. We have to say this write up for Shanghai is spot on:

"Almost all Shanghai women think they are the women of women. They love fashion, perfumes, cosmetics, just like they love their own bodies. Shanghai is a stylish city, destined to create a different temperament of beauties. Actress Betty Sun (孙俪) is such a representative. With a pure and beautiful appearance, we are all attracted by her petite body with a pair of big beautiful eyes. Her extraordinary refined temperament is unforgettable."
We don't know what "a different temperament" has to do with Betty Sun's petite body and big, beautiful... eyes.
Rounding out the list is Beijing, Hong Kong and poor, poor Guangzhou, which received a low (and fairly arbitrary) score of 86. If you're looking for beautiful women, then you probably don't want to go there:
"Someone once said Guangzhou has no pretty girls, and it is hard to find real beauty that is actually from the city. However there are still a lot of beauties in Guangdong province."
Ouch. We're not really sure how Guangzhou could make the top ten with such a bad review, and we're pretty curious as to whose quote that is. We don't know what the rubric is for rating cities based on the attractiveness of their lady population. We're especially curious as to how they came up with their scoring system: we wonder if it's actually out of a hundred points, or if they just started with 95, and dropped a point for each city.
In any case, we've decided to jump on the next train to Suzhou, the "most girly city in China," for one reason, and one reason alone: the beauties of Suzhou "all have admirable pretty hands." What?
